    What is Digital Signature Certificate?

    Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) is a secure digital key which contains your name, email, country and your public key in electronic format.
    Certificates is issued to an individual as identity proof by a Certifying Authority (CA) to sign certain documents digitally to access information or services electronically.
    The DSCs are typically issued with one-year validity and two-year validity. These are renewable on expiry of the period of initial issue. It can also be revoked before the expiry.
    Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) can be downloaded as soft token to use it from local machine and USB token to use it from multiple machines. A person can get more than one DSC at a time for use at different places.

    Why Digital Signature Certificate is required?

    A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) authenticates your identity electronically. It also provides you with a high level of security for your online transactions by ensuring absolute privacy of the information exchanged using a Digital Signature
    You can use certificates to encrypt information such that only the intended recipient can read it. Also, you can digitally sign information to assure the recipient that it has not been changed in transit, and also verify your identity as the sender of the message.

    What is a Certifying Authority (CA)?

    According to Section 24 of the Information Technology Act 2000, “Certifying Authority” means a person who has been granted a license to issue Digital Signature Certificates.
    A Certifying Authority is a trusted agency whose central responsibility is to issue, revoke, renew and provide directories for Digital Signature Certificates.
    Licensed CA are Safe scrypt (Sify Technologies Limited.), e-Mudhra,IDRBT, (n) Code solution, CDAC, NSDL e Gov, Capricorn Identity service, Verasys(VSign), Indian Air Force
